We are dedicated to using our collective professional skills to empower you, the patient, to take charge of your health and be the most positive force for change in your own life.
Holistic medicine, whether Eastern or Western, is concerned with treating the causes of disease as well as the symptoms. Healing is a process. Ultimately, it seeks to unblock the life force, or Qi as it is referred to in Chinese Medicine. By so doing, it unleashes your BodyMind's intrinsic healing powers, restoring balance and harmony. Balance is the foundation of radiant health. Welcome!
Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Ayurveda
Eyton J. Shalom, M.S., L.Ac began his study of the healing arts in 1972 with Yogi S.A. Ramaiah of Kanadukathan, South India. Over the next twelve years (including 3 years in India), Eyton devoted his life to the study of Yoga, Mediation, Nutrition, and Ayurveda Medicine. In 1984 Eyton began his study of Chinese Medicine with Dr. Anton Jayasuria, M.D., at Colombo South General Hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka. After returning to the United States Eyton studied at University of California, San Diego, graduating Magna Cum Laude, in 1988.
In 1992 Eyton completed four years of study at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego, and has been in practice here for the past 11 years while continuing advanced studies in Acupuncture, Herbology, Ayurvedic Healing, Neuromuscular Reeducation, and Meditation.
Eyton has been an Herbal Medicine consultant and Subject Matter Expert for the California Acupuncture Licensing Exam, and has been an instuctor and clinical supervisor at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine for the past 5 years teaching Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture, Medical History and Nutrition. He has also taught at San Diego's Mesa College, and at the California College of Holistic Studies. Eyton was the author of the popular Tao of Health column in The Jade Dragon, Living with the Seasons, in the Mission Hills News, and has been published in the national journal Oriental Medicine. From 1992-94 Eyton was a volunteer acupuncture/herbalist at the Holistic Aids Response Program.
Eyton is dedicated to healing from the inside out. He uses acupuncture, herbs, and nutritional therapies to get long lasting relief from disease and pain, while at the same time treating the underlying root causes. His goal is to empower his patients to take control of their health with diet, therapeutic exercise, stress management, breathing and meditation practice.
Eyton is expert at treating all chronic and acute pain conditions. In fact the whole gamut of neuromuscular conditions, from sports injuries to migraines improve rapidly and safely with acupuncture and other modalities. For many persons, he functions as their primary care physician of choice for respiratory, gastrointestinal, and gynecological problems. Eyton has a special interest in the use of Chinese Medicine for psychological/emotional disorders and has been successful treating anxiety, mania, depression, anorexia, and bulimia.
In Chinese medicine the body, mind, and soul are all aspects of one being, Acupuncture and Herbs are, therefore, excellent adjuncts to personal growth work; releasing emotional blocks or stagnation is at the root of Chinese medicine. It is a form of bio-energetics that is compatible with and facilitates other psychotherapeutic experiences.
Eyton is committed to assisting you in your quest for Radiant Health. A practitioner of Chinese Medicine sees each human being as a world in miniature, as a garden in which the doctor and patient strive together to cultivate health. Each person has a unique terrain, and like a horticulturist using water and compost to grow healthy plants, the Chinese Medicine doctor uses acupuncture, herbs, food, meditation, and exercise to sustain health and recover from illness.
